Hike with small refreshment

Sometimes hiking in the Merano region can also be strenuous and you long for a little refreshment. A perfect hike in the Merano area is therefore the tour from Falzeben in the Merano 2000 hiking area to the Kratzberger lake. In the small mountain lake you can cool your feet and enjoy the wonderful panoramic view.
Or is the lake too cold for you and you just dip your little toe in it? The starting point of this hike in the Merano area is the Piffinger Köpfl, which you can reach with the Falzeben cable car or the Merano 2000 cable car. Castle walk followed by wine tasting

One of our favourite hikes in the Merano area is the castle hike followed by a wine tasting. You walk to the Labers Castle, which is about 15 minutes walk from the Hotel Kiendl. From there you continue your hike through beautiful orchards and vineyards to Rametz Castle. The grape varieties Riesling, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon have been grown here since 1860. From Monday to Friday you can take part in a tour of the Wine Museum and the Castle Cellars in the afternoon and then look forward to a competently guided wine tasting session. It begins in the vinotheque with the tasting of top quality plants and South Tyrolean Kaiserspeck. During the tour through the vineyards you will learn interesting facts about the work in the vineyard. You can return to the Hotel Kiendl by bus, which departs every 20 to 30 minutes and stops directly in front of Rametz Castle. This excursion is a perfect combination of hiking in the Merano area and informative information about wine growing in South Tyrol.
